Grandma visit!

Grandma Kris came to visit, all the way from the western US.

Jonathan has grown a lot since she was last here.

Actually, let's just say Jonathan has grown a lot and stop there. Because he has grown about 12 inches in the last year.

The evening after she arrived we bundled up and went to the Firelight festival at the Docklands. We ate soup and pizza, drank hot chocolate, and walked around the harbour.

Warming our hands....

Viewing the lights of the city.

It was cold and some of us were jetlagged, so we didn't stay for the fireworks, but went home to warm up and go to bed early.

Early the next morning we were up, into the car share car, and off to one of our favourite places: the Healsville Sanctuary in the Dandenong mountains, to see kangaroos.

And wombats.

And birds.

(These two are watching Tim with the bird, but they did also get their own turn with it.)

And there were koalas and echidnas and emus and platypus and all your favourite Australian animals. Apparently I stopped taking animal pictures. But you've seen them all before on this blog.

On the way home, we stopped at our favourite bakery and each bought a pastry. Here is Tim with the apple turnover (mostly cream but also some apple in there).

The weather was cold cold cold! We were all wearing all our layers and freezing a little bit. I guess that's what you do when you visit Melbourne in the winter.
